Cat Sitting

This 30 minute in-home visit includes plenty of play time and companionship with your kitty, feeding, litter box cleaning, changing drinking water, bringing in the mail and newspapers, watering the plants, combing and brushing, administering medication and setting out your garbage or recycling bins, alternate lights and draw blinds, check the house to ensure safety and security, send email updates as requested, comprehensive assessment and observation of any behavioral or medical concerns.

If there are additional small animals in the home to care for such as birds, hamsters or fish a nominal fee will be added.

Cat Boarding: Home Away from Home

California Paws encourages using cat boarding anytime your visit is going to be longer than five days. We offer a home setting to board and we guarantee that yours will be the only pet being cared for in the home. Your pet will have the freedom to roam around the house without any restrictions such as being caged.

The benefit of boarding is that your pet will get round the clock care with lots of attention. It is also recommended for kittens, older cats, those with medical concerns or on medication, cats that don't like to be alone for extended periods of time or have behavioral problems.

We will make every effort to maintain the same daily routine that your cat is accustomed to. These include keeping the feeding and play time the same. We suggest that your pet have all its favorite toys, bed, blanket and litter box when he comes to stay so will feel right at home. It will have the opportunity to watch TV and listen to music just as it would if you were around. Blue Cross Pet Hospital is located a block from California Paws and is available for any unforeseen pet emergencies.

Animal Behavioral Consultation

California Paws offers consultation to address a variety of behavioral problems that your cat is having. Each treatment plan will be personalized to address the presenting problem. It may be any combination of email, cat history questionnaire, phone consultation, in-home consult or boarding observation plan.

A cat behavioral consultation can be effective in addressing specific problems such as; inappropriate elimination, scratching and biting, excessive vocalization, spraying, nocturnal running, destructive behavior, excessive weight gain, the introduction of a new pet or family member into the household.

We use behavior modification, provide education and teach retraining techniques as part of the treatment plan. Initially a comprehensive history of the pet will be obtained. Next the problem will be assessed followed by developing a treatment plan. Finally, the plan will be implemented and the behavior changes will be monitored on-going.
